Good good good goal. But nothing like Maradona’s goal in 86 – it can’t compare to that at all. This was in the Spanish semi-final against mediocre Getafe!!!! Maradona’s goal was in the World Cup Finals against England!!!! He beat better players, and the goal was all round better. Messi is great, there is no arguing, but to say he’s better than Maradona. Great goal, almost similar like maradonna’s goal in the year 86. But there shouldn’t be any comparison. AWESOME!

I don’t understand why someone wants to say that this was a merely League competition rather than World Cup, dismishing of Messi’s accomplisment. Just to remind you 3 things:
1. You WON’T see periodically that kind of performance even in a Local League Championship. And the Spanish League
IS NOT weaker than the english, italian or german.
2. Messi in the world cup Germany 2006 , he wasn’t given the main role of the team since he was too young, and lack of experience in international matches, so you just can’t say, he did nothing. The manager just didn’t give him much opportunity, since he wasn’t constantly at the main 11 roster. And for Maradona’s history, he was a little fustrated in Argentina’s 78 world cup (when he was 17 of age), for the same reason he wasn’t the main role too. Only after 8 years later (Mexico 86), he finally arise as the new king of football.
3. Television is another factor, since technology are more available to many people , Messi and Maradona are the most remembered. But to give credit to others, when television was not affordable to anyone, the brazilian Garrincha, during Chile 62 World Cup, he was also famous in his dribblings. Once said in a match league he passed through all the eleven, to make the goal.(But those time not all the matches were recorded)

4. The last comment is that Maradona almost did the same thing before Mexico 86 in an exhibition match in England,at the age of 19. After the game, Maradona’s older brother, reminded him to get rid of the goalkeeper the next time in order to make the goal, and that’s the thing he did against the England team in Mexico 86

The only point I’d like to make is that the English Premiership is far better than La Liga, and any other domestic legaue in the world for that matter. The proof is this…the semi-finals of the best, most difficult, and most euphoric club championship in the world The Champions League currently has 3 English Clubs left in out of 4. No German, No Dutch, No French, and not even 1 or 2, never mind 3 Spanish teams. They’ve had to turn to the UEFA Cup to gain glory. Go Home!

Well the only point I’d like to make is that I think La Liga is faar better than the Englih Premiership. That cuz in La Liga they play more fun football. English football is boring. 😉

this is a fantastical goal. Perfect from start to finish. Reminded me of Ronaldo’s goal when he was a young Barca player (maybe first season with Barca right after Eindhoven)and where he started his attack from even before half-court, dribbling one defender after the other.
